I could see where this might also be helpful for still (non-video) shots. Where you are trying to shoot from unique angles such as along the ground (the view from a cat) or from way up (where a traditional tripod won't get you). Of course you would want to have a remote trigger. But this would save our knees and keep our clothes clean =).
