Canon 7D Question - 12-18-2011, 09:49 AM

Happy Holidays all. I got my Christmas present a little early...couldn't wait. I've been getting a little familiar with the camera and have moved over to the video area.

When shooting video, I noticed that the display turns on and the viewfinder goes black. I assume it has to do with mirror positioning.

Is there a setting to make the viewfinder functional while shooting video? I prefer a viewfinder during daylight hours when it is somewhat difficult for me to see the display. My guess is that I will have to go with an optional LCD viewfinder to take advantage of the available information supplied in the display.

Thanks.

Correct, the mirror is flipping up and allowing light constant access to the sensor.

There is no way to use the viewfinder while in video mode. Video requires Live-View.
