What to get a girl for Christmas? - 12-19-2011, 02:01 AM

Hey guys. So I like this girl, and we've been talking for a while and she came over today and gave me a Christmas present. I was so shocked because I usually tell people not to get me anything, and now she went and got this really nice gift for me. So I want to get her something, but I realized that I have no idea what to get her. She likes fashion, art and photography a lot if it helps. But can anyone here suggest a gift she might like?
My friend suggest me get this Wide Angle Zoom Camera Lensfor her, beacuse she like taking photos, and her lens is out of date.but i am not sure for it,and this is the first time, maybe it is not a good choice.
What do u think about it?

I recommend this book:
Vogue Covers Vogue Covers

It's all about fashion and photography. It's got almost every vogue cover from the late 19th century to today. It's a trip though a very fashiony time machine, and it's very large. Not very expensive tho. You may need to supplement it with something else. If she doens't have any lighting equipment yet, and wants to shoot her own fashion photography, you could start her off with this: Off-camera flash starter kit

You DO relize that Lenses are $$$ -- $500-over $1,000. don't you? Are you THAT into her?

I don't think lenses go "out of date" Do you know anything about her camera? You can't buy a Canon for a Nikon camera.

Unless she's a pretty serious girlfriend, I wouldn't spend all that money on a lens. Or maybe you have unlimited funds? If that's the case, get her a camera AND lens

It's hard to make recommendations without knowing the nature of the relationship. How about a nice watch? Earrings? Sweater? Personally I'd LOVE a gift certificate from Kohls

At risk of sounding tacky; what did she buy you? Yours should be comperable since she "went first". Unless, of course, you have unlimited funds.

That's not a 'wide angle' nor a zoom lens.

Yeah but that's just what his friend suggested not what the girl said she wanted. you can do so much with a 50 and its the cheapest quality lens out there.

There would have to be a lot more to this relationship than that for me to spend several hundred if not thousands on a NICE lens. Shoot... I didn't even spend a thousand on my lovely WIFE for xmas!

If you want to get her a fun photography related gift, maybe check out this website.

Of course, it might be a little late now.
