good technical comparison but it left out the bulk of the actual reasons folks move to the 1.4: durability, focus speed, noise, more blades (8 vs 5). Very few move just for the 1.8 to 1.4 difference, altho I do find myself shooting at 1.4 an awful lot and still having to goose it a bit in post. Buit it is good to see an honest side by side comparison.

Do I get better pictures now with my 1.4 than my 1.8? It sure does, because I've got about 5 years more experience now than when I had the 1.8....;)

Some of that info is similar to what Olympus has said... it is why their lenses stop at f/2. I do have a 30mm f1.4 from Sigma, but I invariably go with the 35-100 f2 over that or the 50mm f2 (both from Olympus) for better images. Sometimes that extra stop is just too inviting though...
