Canon 580EX ll Mounting Bracket Shoe - 12-31-2011, 06:12 PM

Was wondering where I could get a bracket to fit the supplied mounting bracket hole on the 580.

I found a mounting bracket shoe listed on the internet, but it will be shipped from China and delivered sometime before/after my lifetime.

I would like to attach the 580 to a tripod or stand to shoot wireless. Thanks.

if you have all of the parts that came with the 580, then there is a stand alone foot that the flash can go onto. This foot has a hole that accepts 1/4" bolts, which is the same size as the top of most light stands.

It works pretty dang good for free...

Dobick,

Thanks for that info. I dug around and found that little foot. In my haste of tearing into my B&H box and opening my new 7D and 580EX ll, I missed that.

You helped me end 2011 on a good note. Thanks my friend.

David,
Glad to hear that you found it. Kinda like finding a dollar bill in a jacket pocket

I was going to point you to where you could buy one, and pulled up the manual, and the 580ex II has something called a "bracket mounting hole" which is a threaded little hole on the side by the external power plug -- not sure what fits in there, and the manual doesn't really say?

Yeah Dobick. That's the little hole on the side that I was referring to. The weird part is that it's not the standard threads for fitting on a tripod or stand. I read where folks were unable to get a screw or mount for that thread size here in the states.

But all of that is moot now that you rattled my cage and helped me find my supplied shoe. I slipped it on, locked the flash in place and away I went.

Thanks again and I wish you a most happy new year.
