From Rob Galbraith's review:

" While in Live View, the camera can be configured to shoot up to 1920 x 1080 pixel photos without making a sound. Set this way, the D4's mirror stays up and the shutter is not used to control the exposure time, so the picture taking process is truly silent."

This is awesome!

Imagine this...

Nikon D4 running in CX crop (2.7x) @ crazy high ISO (204k) +
600mm f/4 + 2x teleconverter =

Effective field of view equivalent to... 3,240mm f/8. At usable shutter speeds.

Now laugh!

...Was that the primary buffer panel?

Livable. The ability to shoot silent is GOLDEN (pun intended).

SAMPLE IMAGES: Nikon D4 hands-on and manufacturer sample images (video) -- Engadget

Okay, the images kind of suck. I guess Nikon isn't letting them post their own yet.

Below that is a full-size Ethernet jack, if you'd prefer to go the wired route. There's also a remote connector, microphone input jack (!), headphone jack, mini-USB and an HDMI port, which can be used both for video playback and piping out an uncompressed live preview feed, for capturing raw video using a external device.

I noticed they did as Canon did with the 1DX & stopped the AF at f/5.6. Going to limit the use of converters I would guess.

OOPS-I misread that , evidently the 3 center area points will AF with f/8!!!

It is possible to record 1,920 x 1,080/30p Full HD and HD movies in three formats that are FX-, DX-based and 1,920 x 1,080 crop movie format. You can select the format according to your creative intentions.

It looks like you can take 4:2:2 out via HDMI, which is a big development.
