Looks like a real snooze for still photographers IMHO, although there are some compelling features there for folks interested in video.

He has to buy everything himself. I am betting he'll have to return or purchase the two D4s he has.
I will agree that his basic of comparison is the D4 vs D3s/D3x/D3 etc and not the Nikon competitors.
Besides, it is good to know people like him are field testing these things before they go to market.

No doubt the D4 is going after Canon's 1DX.
Looks like the improvements to the photography side of the camera are welcome but "feel" more like tweaks. The new sensor and new body look fantastic.
However... The removal of the dual CF slots in favor of the new XQD standard and NOT making the first slot a hybrid (XQD or CF) is disturbing. No CLS integrated, no GPS integrated, no WiFi integrated (although with the WT-5, Nikon might have finally gotten it right). New battery (not sure if it's backwards compatible with the EN-EL4).
I look at this and think that the cost of the D4 will go far beyond the $6,000 price tag.
I dunno. With the rumors of a 36MP D800 out there, I might just have to wait on this one (if you know me, you know this hasn't happened since the D2H).
It's still very exciting to read about!

Are the XQD and CF form factors close enough to pull off a hybrid slot? I admittedly didn't look that close at the new spec.

There is a photo of the D4 with the slot cover open somewhere, I couldn't find it.
