Well i know its a really big flash or tungsten light, but do you happen to know the manufacture or anything else about it? Do you recognize the logo?

yep , but i'm sure if it broke open, it would release some sort of deadly gas that was banned in the 70's

It looks like an old contact printer we used for a sheet of negatives. MacBeth used to produce a lot of photo equipment we used in the by gone era of film; densitometers, contact printers, print dryers, enlargers. This looks like a 1970's vintage machine.

MacBeth also produced daylight-balanced lamps for inspection and inside photography. In the old days we had a MacBeth booth to verify color match on painted parts. It had a special lamp but I don't recall ever actually seeing the bulb.

no, i see "MACBETH" on the lamp. but the logo could be stylized M.
