Wi-Fi standard announced for SD memory cards from Adorama Learning Center

Quote:
Currently, the only SD card that has built-in WiFi is Eye-Fi, but this will soon change as the industry has accepted a standard that will transform cameras, camcorders and other electronic devices into wireless LAN devices. Consumers will be able to transfer pictures, videos and other content via hot spots and home wireless networks.

Yeah but they make CF adapters.

I saw the people over at Eyefi are pissed because they believe the SD association stole their patent and are fighting it.

I can see their point.

I figured instead of change the card, it's easier to have the camera do the transfer rather than the card.

Also if you really needed, wouldn't you have bought a wifi transmitter grip?

I have the Eye-Fi card card setup in slot 2 of my D7000 set to JPG and have it transfer to either my laptop or tablet, whichever I have with me. Really cool but kind of on the slow time depending on the newtwork available.
