If its as good as the Sigma 150mm 2.8 OS Macro, I think I'll be selling my current non-OS and moving on up to the 180mm 2.8 OS.

a dirty little secret in the canon world is they have a sweet macro lens that no one ever talks about - 180mm f/3.5. I own it and have for years. It is one bad boy of a lens - for the little macro work I have done, for portraits or if you just need a long lens. Sigma has put out some awesome prime lenses in the past (50mm/1.4, 85mm), hopefully this is as good. 1/2 a stop faster....

Well Ron, that's great and all, but I'd have a terrible time getting it to work on my Nikon :D

18.5" minimum, Tom.

Wonder what the price will be. I was looking at the Sigma 150 OS for a March/April buy..

wowza! $1500 to $2000?!

Did sigma discontinue the 180mm/3.5? It OS really needed at 180mm when focusing 1:1? is being 1/2 a stop faster that big of deal? I always thought macro photogs were shooting at f/11 or higher to help with the DOF.

with canon's 180mm being $1330 @ B&H, they must be pandering to nikonians?

In stacking shooting at less than F11 is what I have tried... Or I won't go over F11 if my sensor is too dirty like it was.

I think they discontinued the old Sigma 180mm 3.5 over a year ago.

I like this news. I just got the Tamron AF180/3.5 Macro last year and really happy with it....so I don't need this guy, but I'm sure it will be a fine lens. Ron, I do a lot of shooting wide open when I need to blur the background on subjects...I also do lots of shooting at f16-f32 it all depends on what I'm working on and want to show the viewer. The f2.8 and 3.5 also have a brighter viewfinder and that helps seeing and focusing the subjects I'm shooting.

It's the Sigma 180mm 2.8 or the Canon 65mm MP-E and a 60D body.
