No. Not until all features (including equal DOF capabilities) are matched by mirrorless bodies, DSLRs will remain.

I can say that I've shot more with my X100 than I have with my 5dmk2 in the past 6 months or so. No because the quality of the X100 is better but I find it much more comfortable to carry the smaller camera around than the larger heavier 5dmk2.
In fact... Im at a point where I still shoot more photos with my iphone than with both the X100 and 5dmk2 combined. ha! | | | |

"Kill off" may be a bit strong. Perhaps the question should have been posed as "Drastically reduce market share" but that isn't as dramatic sounding.

It wasnt specifically speaking to the Nex line. Until all mirrorless cameras carry at least the APS-C/DX/FX/etc... sensors, DSLRs will remain. Oh, and price is a big factor. For example: the small sensor size and high price keep me away from the Nikon 1 series. I want a smaller Nikon body with the 16MP DX sensor, but doesn't look like they are going to swing that way. Still might get one, but it'll be used or severely price reduced. Not much interested in buying into another lens system... So yeah, there you go. For mirrorless cameras to (as pointed out above) dramatically kill off the DSLRs market, not only will one manufacture have to have all the benefits, but all the brands have to jump to that boat. Even still, DSLRs will be around for some time to come.

In the end... Full size DSLR's will not be going away... Just more advanced smaller cameras added to the mix. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
