Canon T2i to Nikon fieldscope. Is it possible - 01-18-2012, 09:59 AM

Wanting to find an adapter to adapt my Canon T2i to a Nikon fieldscope. It is a Nikon 16-48x65 realtree spotting scope. Does anyone know if it possible and if so where I could find it. Thanks

I have not seen one of these scopes in person, but based on the reviews on the internet and the pictures, it looks as if the focus and zooming functions are both contained in the eyepiece, which means to me that it would not be possible to replace that eyepiece with an adapter that would let you use the camera at the prime focus point.

I think you may be forced into some kind of adapter like this one where the adapter attaches to the outside of the eyepiece and holds the camera with a normal lens mounted on it a fixed distance away from the eyepiece - - in essence, the camera replaces your eye, rather than replacing the eyepiece on the scope.

Of course, having the zoom and focus controls on the eyepiece may make this hard to actually work because, since those functions are controlled by rotating a section of hte eyepiece, there may not be a good non-rotating surface for the clamp shown to grip onto...

Perhaps someone else may have another idea...

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.

Thank you for the response I will check that out. The controls on the eyepiece control the magnification but the actual focusing is separate on the body of the scope. But I understand what you are saying about not being able to remove the eyepiece. I have taken a few shots with the camera butted up to the eyepiece but it is extremely difficult to focus I users fixed 50mm on manual and it worked ok butkt is very bulky and hard to maneuver.
