Zoom lens questions... - 01-29-2012, 09:06 PM

Hi, I have a used zoom lens, 75-200 Five star with auto macro.
I have no booklet instructing me how to use it. There are quite a
few settings on the barrel, but I am not versed on what all is shown.
Can I obtain any info. as to how to work this lens?

Also, the two parts of the lens sometimes do not lock togeather. I don't mean
locking on the camera, as that is not a problem.

Any help would be appreciated. I even checked with Utube and had no luck.
Thanks, Patrick

From Patrick..regarding my lens post on my zoom lens. - 01-30-2012, 12:57 PM

I uploaded photo of the lens that I have questions on.
I know where the zoom, aperture ring, lens lock,
reproduction ratio, and distance scales are.
I am not sure what the other markings are for.

Also is the back of the lens where it goes into the camera and
the front where the light comes in? I am quessing that would be correct.

Which is the barrel and which is the tube of the lens?

Thanks, I hope the photo of my lens shows.
Patrick

I'm not sure what two parts you mean. The picture appears to just be a normal lens so I can only guess you mean the lens hood. Thos typically either screw on like a filter to the front of the lens or they snap into place. To answer your other question, the back of the lens is the part that goes into the camera.

reply to my zoom lens... - 01-30-2012, 01:13 PM

Thanks for the reply, but that lens is a zoom lens and it is about 6" long.
There are two long tube that move up and down and trun, etc.
The lens also has several turn rings. There are quite alot of measurements,
and markings on the lens as you can see in the photo. This lens is for my
canon T70 35MM camera. If you get a chance reread my original question.
PS I did not take the whole lens as there were no other markings to show you.
Thanks for any help you or anyone else can afford me.
Patrick

I read your original question. You said "the two parts of the lens sometimes do not lock togeather." If you are not talking about connecting a lens hood then I have no idea and am not able to help you out. You might try taking the lens and all its parts to a camera store. Best of luck to you.
