Help me decide.. - 02-04-2012, 07:41 PM

Trying to decide between the Canon 5D Classic and the Nikon D7000. Very different in their own ways. One is 7yrs old and the other 2yrs. My main purpose for them would be weddings. What beats me is the fact that one is full frame (everyone swears to have to have it for weddings) and the other is not BUT the D7000 I feel has better performance. I guess my question is which I should choose. Pros n cons guys??

Thanks,
Eliud

I think everyone is quiet because that is quite the comparison. Each has it strengths. FF is very nice, but you have to have the FF glass to go with it. Since you already have a D80, how much Nikon glass do you have? The D7000 has the better AF system between the two, and you can use FX or DX lenses, and you may already have some Nikon glass.

FF is nice, but I think getting the gear that suits you best is more important. If you like Nikon,go for the D7000 or save a little longer and start watching for used D700s now that the D800 is out.

I have canon glass, so my choice would be the 5d.

what glass do you have, and what glass do you want?
That will be a larger chunk of your cash than the body by far, so that is the much more important factor in the decision.

I actually only have a 50mm 1.8 for my Nikon of course,..I want to have 17-55 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8. Yeah, the lens will incur a much greater investment, however I feel the need to upgrade the body first.
