Not if it is going to compete with the D800. The bodies are the gateway drug.

Tom is right.... man that D800 packs so much into a relatively small price tag.... Canon needs to be on their A game....

Who knows.... hopefully soon... I can see if they do not even hint at something, a few % of people will prob be moving from Canon's camp to Fort Nikon :)

I am not going to abandon Canon. One thing that all the 5D3 rumors have done to help me is allowing me to recently purchase a very clean pre-owned 5D1 for quite bit less $ than it would have probably fetched a few months earlier. Now, I can play with full frame digital, and I am liking it! Plus, multiple cameras means there is less need of another zoom lens, so I can be patient there, too. (To be clear, though, I did much pixel-peeping on-line, and did not "settle" for a 5D1 so much as decide that a 5D would be be a very good value, while providing very good performance, for my eyes, at the individual pixel level.)

Between now and mid-2013, several financial obligations will sort themselves out, so late summer of 2013 is looking good for my next really expensive lens purchase. This will allow time for folks to post their long-term impressions of the 24-70mm L II, and perhaps the same for any successor(s) to the 5D2.
