I have no idea why a canon user should be even remotely upset?
If nikon makes a great product and is adopted in the market as a success, then canon will follow.
I'm actually very happy about this, because the trend lately has been to more and more pricey cameras (like the 1d combination moving to the 6-7k range) so a nikon keeping innovation in the 3k range makes me think that the upgrade to the 5d II won't go much higher than that if not lower.
so this is really good news for the market, unless you wanted a much lower price point for this tech.

It's nice to see the D800/E having dual memory slots, CF and SD. Now I can use the Eye-Fi card in a full size body instead of the 5n.

I kind of wish they would have gone double as. I have lots of large as cards and my Eyefi is also as. I'm sure this makes the D700 users happy though even though I still hate the little pins.

I was originally waiting for the D400 announcement to replace my D300, since I wanted to stay with DX. But after reading up on the D800, especially the crop modes, I decided on the D800.
Placed my pre-order over the weekend. Now I'm gonna have to upgrade my computer too :/

Pre-ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. My internist, who is an accomplished wedding and landscape photographer as his avocation, recently sold his D3, D700 and Nikon lenses to move to medium format. He's a bit upset now. The cost of my physicals may go up.
