The images I have seen from it are AMAZING, but I am still not tossing $13K at it.

I suspect that the 13k is MSRP and will be discounted widely.

I don't get it. Why would anyone in their right mind spend $17k on this lens when you can buy a Canon 500mm + prolevel body for less money? Are people that stuck on the Sony brand? Im skeptical the Sony body/lens combo is any better than the Canon or Nikon equivalent. Can someone make sense of this?

Nope. Sony has price controls in place so it is $13K everywhere that has it.

$13K.

Yes, they should have a FF body to go with it, and that body is supposed to come this fall. This lens has been around in mockup form for 3+ years. The lens itself is AMAZING from the samples that the few lucky owners have posted. I am sure in time the price will get lower.
