Problem: Fuji X100 Sticky Aperture Blades.. - 02-13-2012, 09:05 AM

I'm on a trip in California right now and a few days ago I noticed while shooting in Aperture Priority mode that when shooting at say f/16 the blades never stop down which leads me to a very over exposed photo.

It seems to be a problem a lot of people are having. I totally thought I was doing something wrong so I checked everything and all was right so I did some more digging and others out there are having similar issues.

I've managed to get by by shooting in full manual mode and/or in auto mode for the trip. I wonder how long the problem will take to get fixed. Ugh!

It seems people are shipping them to Fuji to have the entire shutter/aperture assembly replaced.

Guess you got hit with the sticky blade issue....

Just curious, have you updated your firmware from the update last week... you might want to give that a go...

Just spoke to Fuji in New Jersey and they are aware of the issue. He said it was a problem and for me to ship it to them and they'll replace the entire lens assembly and the average turn around time is about a week.

Once repair is completed they FedEx it back overnight.

I just need to ship them the camera and include a proof of purchase and they'll handle the rest.

Here is there contact info if anyone needs it:

I was very pleased with the X100 tech Steve as he answered all of my questions and made it very comforting to know it will be taken care of. At first I was very upset and disappointed prior to calling but Steve was very helpful and eased my mind about the problem. That was some great customer support to say the least.

I'll let you guys know when I ship it out and when I get it back.. Hopefully it'll be before my NEXT vacation! :)

Im going to have to see if I can duplicate this problem tonight when I get home. Since I had to wait so long to get mine, and the fact that it came with the second version of firmware already loaded, maybe the issue was discoverd and taken care of in the batch mine came out from.

2/15/12 - Fedex confirmed it was delivered
2/16/12 - Fuji sent me an email stating it was been received and processing
2/16/12 - Updated online status indicator says its been fixed and will ship out tonight
2/17/12 - Suppose to be delivered by 4pm

Talk about a GREAT turnaround time!
