I upgraded to the 20D from the 300D and love it. The high ISO is *much* better. You should probably look at the difference in features between 30D and 20D and see if it's worth it. I personally think the 20D is a great tool for a professional.

I have a 10D, 20D, 30D.
The 20D is relegated to back up work.
The 30D is exactly what I had hoped the 20D would be.
For the extra money you get a better functioning camera.

I don't really see the 30D as much of an upgrade for 20D users, but if you're buying now I think it makes sense to go with the 30D as there are some improvements (more usability/ergonomics than image quality).

You could get a used 20d and maybe a lens also. I saw a 20d go for like $900 at FM not that long ago.

Here are you only differences between the 20D and 30D...the new 30D has---
- Spot Metering (3.5% at Center)
- .3 ev ISO steps...(ISO 500, 640, 1250 and so-on)
- "Picture Style" parameters including "Picture Style" • Standard • Portrait • Landscape
• Neutral • Faithful • Monochrome • User 1, 2, 3
- Ability to adjust (in camera) contrast, color tone, saturation from -4 to +4 (compared to 20D -2 to +2
- 2.5" LCD screen (230,000 pixels)
- RGB histogram
- buffer of 30 jpeg and 11 Raw (compared to 23 jpg and 6 raw)
That's it. Those are the upgrades from the 20D to the 30D. You decide if it's worth the extra money.

Well... it's time to get back in the game.

start out on program and get used to what you see in the viewfinder. move to the other automatic features, then into the priority modes, etc. It's a very intuitive camera to shoot.
Plus, you get to see your result on the huge screen.

Congrats Kimberly, the 30D is an excellent camera. If it was available two years ago when I got my camera I would have bought it instead of the 1DMkII (although I'm glad I have the 1D2 now) because I wanted spot metering and a large buffer.
So, let's see some pictures!
