D2X problems - 05-12-2006, 08:49 PM

some of you all already knew that I had some camera problems, I just wanted to let you all know what actually happened.

My brand new D2X quit working during Scott's workshop. Thanks Bill for the loan of your camera once again. Called Fort Worth Camera and they made arrangements for me to get a loaner for photo shoot the next day. That camera was also a D2X which also took a nose dive and quit working. Nikon took possession of all of my equipment and started an investigation. Turns out one of my lens (70-200 2.8 VR) had a short which in turn was frying cameras. Bill I am so glad that I didn't screw that lens on your camera.

Yes I know Jeff maybe I should have gotten a Cannon, but all is well again Nikon replaced all of my equipment with bran new equipment.

I have never heard of that happening! Thanks for posting this, I would never have thought a lens could fry a camera, it's good information.

Glad to hear Nikon did the right thing.

Hey Kendall,

Glad to hear Nikon taking care of you....at the end of the day, that is all we can ask.

Nice to see you again at Scott & Greg's Workshop, I hope you are enjoying the D2X, it is
a fine camera.

Jeff

Whew. I knew something didn't sound 'right' with that lens. I'm glad I didn't stick it on my D200 either.

Glad to hear that both your dealer and Nikon made it right for you.

I'm glad Nikon got it figured out, and that your dealer took care of you on the whole thing. I'm also _very_ glad you didn't try putting that lens on my body :-) It's kind of scarey that a short in the lens can fry the body, but I suppose if the short was from a power line to a signal line that could do it.
