PhotoShop CS2 Error - Help! - 06-23-2006, 12:18 PM

I have all of the sudden started getting an unexplained error in photoshop. It will just pop up and say, cannot complete action, save, etc. due to a program error. End of story. I have to restart photoshop and lose my work on that photo.

Anyone ever have this happen or have a clue what is going on?

Thanks!

CJ

P.S. Don't think it is the machine. Is a dual core processor with plenty or ram and raptor drives. Has always worked well.

Mac or PC... Wait.. It's an error, gotta be PC version. Sorry just had too.. (I have both btw and use the PC more at this point in time).

Actually, I havent seen this issue. Sometimes preferences get outta wack and must be reset. I would suggest trying the Adobe forum to start. There are many helpful forums around too if no one here can answer. My try Creative Cow...

Good Luck!

When it says error does it gives any error messages. Why are you thinking it is not hardware it can be. run memtest.
Or plain simple reinstall cs2.

If I have a dozen 90 meg TIFF files open at the same time and I use the healing tool a lot (sensor dust, ugh) CS2 will sometimes stop.

Disable your virus protection software when launching Photoshop and then re-enable it.

Check your preferences to see that you have allocated enough RAM.

In preferences, use a secondary drive as your scratch disc.

Make sure you have registered Photoshop (you can only put it on two computers) and that it is activated correctly to that computer.

Make sure you have installed all the updates.

Try reinstalling photoshop and the CD will have a "Repair" Option.

Check the fan to make sure it is blowing out the back of the CPU.

Make sure your graphics board is using the correct and current driver.

I sometimes have gliches when XP does a patch....then Photoshop Patches the Patch....etc.

Let me know if any of this helps,

Vickie
