Sigma 24-70 EX DG Macro news..

I was PM'ing member fstopjojo on the FM board and asked him about the Sigma focusing issues on the 20D. He's the only one I know that has done a thorough review on the lens. People that have the lens could send it back to Sigma for the "flexboard" fix. That took care of the focusing issue and the Error 99 deal. Well anyway he informed me that Sigma USA is going to release an updated version of the lens. It's going to have the flexboard fix to solve the problems as well as minor tweaks. The model number is the same but the "new" lenses are going to have the serial numbers starting with numbers "400-xxxx". The old ones start with 300..
We'll see how true this is in the next few weeks or so. I have my fingers crossed.

It hasn't arrived yet though...

I was torn between this lens and the Tamron 28-75 that everyone praises. This news is the deal maker for me.

So when the new lens comes out you will have to ask what serial number is on the lens!!?

They should have some other way of noting it. Unless you go to a physical store it is not easy to find out what the serical number is before you buy.

Either that or the retailer received brand new stock. I'll wait a month or two..
