"New this Fall!
Canon 1DS 22mp
Leica M8 Digital
Nikon D80 10mp

Call or email today to get on the waiting list!"

Well, it looks offical now... The SIG 550 will most likely go up on Gun Trader in October to finance the Leica.

Sorry John, that's a trade of shooting tools I'd never make. Sell the car maybe, eat ramen noodels for a while, heck, sell some plasma, but never give up the guns. I did it when I was younger and I'm still kicking myself for the beauties I let go....

Never shot one, but I'm not a big fan of the bullpup design. It's just a familiarity thing I'm sure.

Is your 550 the sniper version?

No, it the standard model. I love bullpups and have several AUGs and the FAMAS.

Now, will Canon back that up with a new wide angle lens (or two) that can make use of all that resolution?

I think you hit the nail on the head. Canon has to produce some good glass or all of those MP will go to waste.

I wouldn't mind seeing a printer that can make use of the mkII's resolution come out rather than another camera that increases what apparently doesn't get used now (MP's). I wonder if the difference (16.7 vs 22) is worth it. There are people (on this forum and everywhere else for that matter) that produce incredible images with far fewer MP's (I'm not talking composition. I'm talking clarity, sharpness, etc)

Yes... I'm still whining about printers

Hey, even the Canon EOS 3D looks to be an awesome piece of equipment! 13.3 MP, 2.75" OLED screen, sealed like the EOS 1Ds series. The entire lineup looks amazing!

Leica M8 - 08-01-2006, 03:16 PM

There is a dealer in California who is taking $1,000 deposits for the M8 for his SECOND allotment. First allotment already sold out. Somebody in England spotted an M8 in use last weekend.

Enjoy!

Any images displayed on the web really doesn't showcase the benefits of any sort of high-resolution capture. It's people who have to deal with large prints that will have a use for that level of megapixels...if we were just preparing images for web use, we'd be fine with 4MP (or even less).

Well I want just some more MP to get bigger prints. 8MP is ok but I wanna break into some of those BIG prints...as opposed to those small 16x20s

I'm still sticking to the D200. This is just crazy. If i were to get 5 bucks for every upgrade, i'd be able to buy me such a 22mp camera. But seeing that they won't even trade in, then ehh, my next purchase is the D200. I think it's a fair camera, and unless i am going to be shooting top of the line pictures for some top magazine, or corporation, or hollywood, then why even bother with a 22mp camera. Specially the price tag on that thing. I would have to sell my house to be able to afford it.

hahaha.

Cheers'

AG

Thankfully some people will buy these new cameras, so Canon and Nikon will be able to continue their R&D. Eventually I'll be using a double-digit-megapixel SLR too!
