I use my old 500L and 300 2.8 L FD lenses with my new equipment, it's one of the many reasons I stayed with Canon. Just use an adaptor with them.

I would happy with either system I think, they are both solid performers.

I am surprised in the difference in Canon and Nikon numbers. I initally thought that the poll would indicate an even split.

Pentax K100D here. I'm a newbie, and the early summer deal on the Pentax *ist DL got me into the dSLR game. $324 net for the DL with a kit lens was too good to pass up. Plus, six weeks later, I sold the DL body for more than I paid for the kit and bought the K100D so I could get the in-body shake reduction.

If I didn't already have the Ricoh and a room full of Pentax lenses I would have went with the Canon digital. When Iam out on the sidelines of a high school football game I see a lot more Canons than I do Nikons. About the only Nikons I see are from the Longview News Journal.

I am actually surprised that Nikon is holding up as well as it is. To hear the Canon evangelists, EVERYONE who is ANYONE is shooting Canon these days :)

Of all the people I personally know with DSLR's, most have gotten in to the SLR game recently and bought Canon. I went Nikon when my choice was N80 or 7e, and after handling both I just thought the N80 'felt' better. Would have made the same choice between the DRebel and the D70 if I had waited till then to buy. While I sometimes wish I had the high ISO noise ability that Canon has, I have never regretted my decision.

Motorola flip phone... LOL
I couldn't decide between Nikon or Canon, so I bought the one that made my eyes look pretty... LOL
No but seriously, I couldn't afford the Nikon D70, but I could afford the Canon DRebel XT. So there it is, it all came down to money for me.

I have now shot about 2000 pictures with my Sony A100. Before that I had a Sony V1, and I can't even tell you the digital 2.1 Sony I had. Even had a Sony SureShot film camera before that. So far I love the A100, especially the steady shot. Now that I have a 28-75mm f2.8, shaky shooting is no more.

btw, hello all!
