Daniel... When I was looking at the Wimberly heads I saw that they have plates that fit a Canon 800mm f5.6 soooo go ahead and snag one of those 600's

Congrats Michael!

I upgraded to the 600 from the 500 earlier this year and I love it. Wimberley makes an excellent gimbal head too.

I use it on a Gitzo 1325 and it handles the 600 great. Oh don't forget the flash brackets, Better Beamer, flash, battery pack, etc.

Do you have any more money I can help you spend?

It's a great tripod, I use mine all the time (with the BH55, same as shown in Daniel's photo). It can go from totally flat as shown there, to usable sitting with the legs extended.

Thanks Bill,

I started to order the BH55 but I already have a B1. With a Wimberley on the way I should be ok... I'm looking forward to the RRS ground tripod getting here... I'm not even going to think about the 600 (yeah... suuuuure) until Monday or Tuesday. I might not be home when it gets here but my son can sign for it so at least they will drop it off.

What Jim said and the battety pack is Canon CP-E3, it's my must-have-item for fast recycle charging. It takes 8xAA battery, so you'll to load them up AA as well. But be careful with burst flash, There's been report with flash unit bulb burned out on continue shot. Give the flash unit a shot rest per 3-5 shots. Though i shot 15 missed one with 3bps without problem. :)

I've got to order an extension cable so I can mount the flash on the bracket anyway so I may as well add this to the list... Anyone want to buy a lens box. I hear they are tasty and I'm going on a diet (apparently)

"Don't get the canon cord!", the seating plate came lose too easy. The contact pins wouldn't touch that plate, the flash is off. It happened to both my cords and i used to take them apart twice a month, fixed them up but it will came lost in time. Imagine you have to hold down the flash unit in the field for every single shot.. that's a pain.

I got one from BirdasArt after reading Mr Morris complaint about the same problem. It's a promaster cord for Canon. i think you can get the same one everywhere. Built like a tank with very thick aluminium seating plate. He said he used more than 10 in his career with canon cords and all came lost.

Thanks! I got distracted so I haven't ordered anything yet. I'll check out BirdasArt!
