Well in my on going quest to have a workable M8 system by Christmass, I was about to close a deal on a new Zeiss ZM 21/2.8. But I thought just how is this going to play with the lens codes of Leica. Well it may not play well. While RFF says they'll add codes to ZM's no details. and here's
Leica's list of what it will code (back in Germany no less).
Now here's the Dragon in that information.
“On account of their legendary quality, nearly all Leica M lenses are ideal for digital use.
However, the new 6-bit coding also uses the performance reserves in the image processing of the camera to give our customers the excellent image result they expect from Leica,“ says Rainer Bultert, product manager for the M system at Leica Camera AG.
It's not just for the EXIF data but will be used in the image processing and not a word about how lenses without the code will have the image processed.
This puts the ZM on hold and now has me looking at the 21 Elmarit ASPH.
There are Dragons there...
