Let's look to the positives of the year. What was the best pieces of equipment you got in 2006.

The Canon 5D, EF 50/1.0L, and 35/1.4L.

But it's the 5D that makes those two lenses excel.

30D & 24-105 f/4L IS. That combo gets me through just about any of my day-to-day shooting opportunities. Of course I have other lenses I use as well. (I just might be adding a 5D next year depending on finances.)

I think it would be my move into some more primes, specifically I picked up an 85L and 35L.

I'm afraid to do this because I might become dissatisfied with my zooms, and I'm rather attached to them.

I actually should have said my move into more primes as I had several already. I am still very attached to my zooms also and usually always carry them when I travel. The beauty of buying L glass is that they loose very little of their value unlike bodies which depreciate rapidly. I have one friend that looks at it as renting because if you ever want your money out of it you can get it quickly and rental is cheap. Example: you can buy a 135L for about $900, use it for a couple of years and sell it for $800. Two year rental is about $100.

Makes sense. That's a smart way to look at it.
