Canon Rebates

Just curious after the rebates end, what do you guys think Canon will do.

I am going to buy a new DSLR in Feb. and curious to know if anyone remembers what they have done in the past.

The last few years I think they've had rebates twice per year. However, in my opinion the rebates get lower each time. Canon is not offering a rebate on the Rebel XT now. And when I bought the Rebel 300D (in November 2004) it had a $100 rebate on it. I think the next time I saw a rebate on the entry level dSLR (maybe it was the Rebel XT closer to its release date) I think it went down to $50. That's just the past, though.

The prices on those cameras have come down though as of late due to the 400d's release even without the rebate. And that's better than a rebate if you ask me, that way you don't have to worry whether you'll actually see your savings or not.

There are rumors the update to the 30D (the 40D is what the street is calling it right now) is coming out in March...but they're just rumors right now, nothing official from Canon yet. There's another thread on the topic here at TPF. I'm holding my breath...looking to replace my 300D with one possibly.

the rebates expire jan 13... i just submitted mine i totalled up to $770

Mine are going in as soon as the new 70-200 IS shows up tomorrow. Can't wait!

Just hope they don't do like Sandisk, one rebate per household.
