Those are OK Prices but I really wouldn't call them deals since it looks like prices on CF cards are falling fast and furious. I don't know why anyone would pay full retail for those cards now-nice thing is that there is no "MAIL IN REBATE" for those cards so you don't need to pay taxes on the rebate!
I like to price cards out at their equivalent GB unit and under $25 a unit for Ultra is ok and under $30 for extreme is OK also if you need that write speed which most people don't-just a handful of sports shooters really need 100X write speeds or faster, most of us can get by with 50X speeds or slower since the camera buffer can hold several shots itself.
Wonder why the camera guys scrimped on the buffer storage chips when they built the cameras? Is it just that bit of cost? Sometimes you can nickle and dime a new product design and whittle away costs on the wrong things. I would rather have a cheaper strap come with the camera and spend the $10 on something like a larger buffer size or have the manual come on CD rather than a printed manual etc. |
