Leica Dealer - Anyone know of one in DFW? - 01-25-2007, 09:11 AM

I'm going the Leica route as far as my P&S goes. The camera should be here tomorrow and I was wondering if there was a local Leica dealer that carries extra batteries, leather case, etc... I can order them online but I thought I'd check out this route first.

The Leica site has Cabelas listed but I know they only carry scopes and such, no cameras.

Thanks!!

Joe,

There is a Leica dealer in Highland Park off of Preston Road but I can't remember the name of it off hand. (its has kind of a strange name if I remember correctly) you might check Competative Camera in Dallas also.

Hope this helped.

Cooters Cameras. It's funny to go in there. The salesmen are all wearing suits.

Which of the p&s Leicas are you getting? Batteries are the same as their panasonic brothers and will be much cheaper than at Cooters.

Also some of the cases are in short supply anywhere.

Got a great deal on a D-Lux 3. Didn't think about the Panasonic battery idea, thanks! That's probably the way to go.

It's good you found one. Production has been ended on them for some reason.

Yeah, I've heard multiple reasons on that. Maybe something new at PMA?

I suspect it has to to with Panosonic's flexable production methods. Just this morning B&H went from Back Ordered, Out of Stock to In Stock. Since the D-Lux 3 was just presented at Photokina and hit the dealers in October, I wouldn't expect anything new. But they do need to clean up the noise in both the Leica and Panasonic models. The Venus III engine doesn't seem to be a major change.
