If you've not see this it's well worth reading, "Why Is My 50mm Lens Equivalent to 80mm on a 35mm Camera and Why Is There More Depth-of-Field?"

Good reading here and serious cites for their statements. How often do you see a book by Feynman cited?

Well worth the read! A very interesting sidelight to all the discussion of small vs large sensors is the discussion of pixel size by itself. This site -
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tut...hotography.htm
- which is referenced in the piece has a great demonstration of the effect of pixel size in various cameras on resolution at various f-stops. Those who use digital cameras and think that the best resolution is obtained at super small f-stops should probably take a look!

Interesting read, but makes several assumptions that aren't necessarily true, i.e. always assumes the same field of view (sensor position), same sampling frequency (pixel density), etc. It tends to lead to conclusions that aren't really reflected in actual application.
