The Dell outlet site changes rapidly, as it reflects what's actually in stock. You'll find the best selection and the best prices early in the morning (not sure when the day's items are loaded). The best ones are snatched up right away. If you're shopping there in the afternoon or evening, forget it and come back in the morning. :)

I got my laptop there several years ago, and used the savings to buy the super-duper extended warranty. End result was a better price than new with a better warranty than new.

My personal favorite site for finding deals of any kind, are at http://www.slickdeals.org/

There are usually 3 or four dell deals on the front page alone, and if you search the forums, you can usually come up with some insane coupon codes as well.

Good luck.

By the way, if you are in the market for a laptop, have you looked at lenovo lately -- they have come way down in price, and my experience with them is that they are super reliable.

Products are loaded to the Dell Outlet site throughout the day, not one set time. But, true - the "very best" deals will diappear very quickly.

Want a new one, try here:
http://www.dell.com/content/products...=04&l=en&s=bsd

You won't be as likely to find deals, if ever, on the XPS line. You could go to the 17" Inspiron 9400, and then upgrade it on key features to get it closer to the XPS. Probably will save a little money there too.

Have you tried ebay?
I got my XPS for $3100 thru one of the sellers there. I priced an exact duplicate via Dell's online store and it was over $4100.
It arrived very fast, in the unopened Dell box.
The seller was very good. He had 100% feedback. Called me before he charged my card to verify all my info. Called me several times between the time the order was placed and the laptop shipped. Then called to make sure I was happy with the purchase.

Try going on Dell's site, spec out the unit you want then do a search on ebay for it.

I got everything except the 4GB memory option.
7950 GTX with 512
T7600G dual core (overclockable via BIOS)
2GB 667mhz RAM
100GB 7200rpm HD
Bluetooth with remote
4 yr Complete Care warranty

Just another option.

Ben, I didn't know that. Or maybe it changed since the time I investigated? In either case, thanks for the update.

They'll generally show up in batches, but not at a single one time of the day load. I'm 110% sure...

Costco is running some dell deals right now. I don't know if it's just desktop machines or what the details are.

A couple of hints... weekly specials are posted on Thursdays (expire at midnight, Wednesday), so that's a good time to check SMB page.

Also, DealCatcher and HeadLineDeals have up-to-the minute specials (not just Dell).

Happy shopping!

cheers!
