So I just put in my order for a 24-70/2.8 L ... it's a little more than I wanted to spend. I'm pretty sure it's a great lens but I guess I still feel unsure. Anyone have this lens? What do you think of it?

I absolutely love mine...

I've heard of vignetting wide open when on a cropped sensor DSLRs, but since I'm using a 5D, I've never had an issue with it.

Only thing I found difficult to get used to was the zoom - seems reversed from every other lense I've used...

Its GREAT. You did not do wrong!
It and my 24-105 are my most used lenses. Which one I use depends on whether or not I want the speed or the length. And No vignetting on my 1.3 crop 1DMkII.

Don't own one (YET), but based on what I've read that's a great choice. It's defintiely a great general lens to have, and I've seen enough people post threads about selling other lenses to get that one, or trying out that one vs. other lenses (like the 24-105) and then liking that one the best. I'm sure you'll love it.
