Angry Help needed with Memory Card - 04-02-2007, 09:33 AM

Last night after getting home during an all day shoot I put my card in the reader as I always do. Instead of seeing "Removable Disk" I got a series of squares and weird symbols. I clicked the plus sign to expand the file and where the is usually only one folder there were about 20.

I found the DCIM folder and the subfolder that had my images and was able to upload them to my PC. The first 83 images however are missing in action. I know they were recorded at the time of shooting.

I was shooting RAW on a 4G card with a Maxxum 7D. This was my first time shooting RAW only w/o an index jpg. I've never had any problems with the card before and usually reformat in the camera before shooting, but I admit I didn't this time but I did the day before. I always have the power off when removing card or changing lenses.

I'm trying to understand what happened. Is it possible (since the camera is older) that their were too many files or there was too much memory used in a particular folder? Also is there and chance the other images may be recoverable and if so what would be the best way to do that? Thanks for any help on this.

Try this and see if it helps. Download the appropriate version of Image Rescue from this site and see if it recovers the images.

There are other programs out there that might also work, you may want to try a google search on "image recovery"

HTH--let us know.
