Wow, I have never had a issue with B & H or Canon with the rebates. I had trouble with Sony on a dvd burner, same thing happened, sent in the right stuff and was told it was wrong.

ok, here is a question that has not been asked yet.

you ordered from B&H correct ?

did you purchase and receive a USA item or an "imported" item.

im sure the USA item has a different UPC than the Imported item

if you ordered the "imported" item, would it be possible they dont qualify for the USA rebate????

just throwing that out there

James

FWIW, the only rebate problem I've had was with Sandisk. I called and of course got no satisfaction (I placed the order on 12/30, rebate required purchase by 12/31, B&H shipped 1/1 and Sandisk said I was outside the rebate period). After arguing with the doofus on the phone for a while, I just wrote to the sales department of Sandisk and told them basically that after all the money I've spent with them, it seemed pretty silly to lose all my future business over the amount of the rebate.

I never did get an apology or any personal communication from them, but my rebate check showed up about four weeks later :-)

I send my rebate last year they send me letter saying I forgot to send warranty card (may be I did). And top of that I didn't even read that letter and when I check on-line I found all this out.

So I called and she told me she will process rebate without anymore paper work. I got rebate yesterday. May be I am lucky. thank you god.

I had a rebate coming for a 30D and a 100m f28 macro lens. I got a check for 100 to cover the 30D first of March, but nothing else. Called Canon, the person I spoke to told me the was nothing in their records for the lens. She told me to send in certain things. Called back after I looked around to make sure I hadn't forgotten the info on the lens to verify what I need to send in, I didn't write it down the first time. I spoke with a different person who actually looked through the records and found the paper work on the lens. Resubmitted the rebate for the remaining amount.I got my other $160 on Monday.

Sometimes you can have better luck calling back and speaking to someone else.

Hope it works out and you get your rebate.

You will never have a problem with Canon Rebates and the UPC if you pre-approve online. You input the UPC and it returns the product and rebate amount or tells you it's not a good code.

MOTS,

Try what Deanna said. I had the same experience as you. Denied for UPC code.
Watched it on line and saw it denied. I called in and spoke with a nice lady. She put me on hold. When she came back, she had found my paperwork and approved the rebate.
$700.00 showed up about a week later.

Try again, be nice, have a sense of humor. Its the fly and honey thing, and it works.

Kevin

Thanks, KJ.

Right now I am waiting for them to call me back by Friday, as they have promised.

I will be nice. I was totally cool, calm, and placid when I spoke them the first time.

That would really suck if you ordered a USA model and actually got an import, thus making the rebate null and void.

What John said + call back again and escalate your issue. If you have copies and your invoice there should not be any issues. It took Brad from Canon one week to get my issue resolved after I scanned and e-mailed my submission to him. That is pretty decent turnaround.

Got both checks and gave them to the wife. Now we are both happy :)

Victory is mine.

Canon called this afternoon and said that one of the numbers on my UPC code on the 100-400mm lens had "a little crimp" and so the UPC code reader was unable to read it. However, a manual inspection of the UPC code showed it to be okay.

Check should be in the mail in 3-5 days.

I shall turn my swords into plowshares.

I am sorry for your dissatisfaction. It seems you ordered an item which was out of stock but which Canon USA advised us would be available. Subsequently they discontinued the item whereupon we cancelled the order and issued a full refund. We regret having disappointed you.
