580ex II pricing - 04-19-2007, 12:24 PM

I checked on Adorama and they had a price of $499 on the 580ex II. Is this what its expected to be at? The guy at my local shop acted like it would be closer to the $450 range. Any ideas on this?

Just about everything I've heard is $499 with a release date at the end of the month. I'm still debating myself to get a Mark I or Mark II. I currently have a 420EX and am looking to do an upgrade. The 420EX has served me well, but am ready to make the move to the 580EX and all that it offers. Plus I'm ready to learn more about this hobby of ours.

What's the difference between the 2 versions?

There are other minor improvements, but, amazingly, I can't seem to find a thread on any of the boards that actually covers the differences in detail. The best description (that I can find) of the Mark II can be found here
