Opinions on Compact Flash cards from Lexar, Kingston, and Sandisk. I have used Sandisk for a long time, and am happy with them, but I hear that Kingston is pretty good for the most part.

I have both the Lexar (for more than 2 years with no problems) and just bought 2 Kingston 4GB 133x cards ( 2 months ago) and have had no problems. I hear Sandisk is King but I have no experience with that one.

I use sandisk 2GB cards extreme and ultra2 and have had no problems, but everything fails and it is just a matter of time. always have a back up no matter what brand you use.

There is one place to go for speed and compatibility when it comes to memory cards:

Personally I use Sandisk, Lexar, and now Ritech/Ridata in My D200.

I've used a bunch of Lexar 133x 2Gb Pro cards - no problems. I'm trying out SanDisk Extreme IV cards now. I have a 2Gb and a 4Gb card and they have been flawless thus far.

I shoot a D200.

I have 6 DSanDisk Ultra II 2GB cards that I have used exclusively for almost 2 years now and they have performed like troopers with no speed or quality degradation in my 20D. Rotated in a regular use cycle.

I have 2GB 80x&133x and a 4GB 133x Lexar, and no issues at all. Nikon D200 supposedly can't handle Lexar's write acceleration technology, but they must have fixed the problem with a firmware upgrade, because I have had no problems at all.

I've got a few Snadisk and one Kingston and none havefailed so far. The only thing I ever had go belly up on me was a microdrive I bought about two years ago. I used it one time on a cruise and lost every photo I took, should have known better than to take it on the cruise for it's first use.

I have a 2g Lexar that has lasted me about three years. I plan on sticking with them unless I can find a good deal on something else.

I bought a SanDisk Extreme IV 8 Gb. compact flash card for $109.95 from Adorama.
I must say it rocks! It will hold 498 RAW photos from my Canon 5D.
You really need to purchase the firewire card reader as well though or it will take a reeeaaly long time to upload the photos to your computer.

I know several folks that have the microdrives and haven't had a minutes trouble but with my luck if it can fail it will fail, and it did fail. I really like that thing too! I think it's best I stay away from them though.
