This photo has levels adjusted, but NO sharpening. Handheld out the window of the car.....

Tom, is the the IS version?

The 300 2.8L is, from everything I've seen and heard, a great lens.

NOT the IS version. I did get to shoot a little with a friends IS version today, and that would be the lens I would go for if I won the Lottery.....

Tom,

I rented one a couple of weeks ago from CC in Dallas... I really enjoyed the extra 'reach' of the lens, and the shallow dof. My wrist did get a little tired though after about 30 minutes. Guess I need more Wheaties.

Daniel ... YUP ... I'm going to rent the 400 next, and will decide by end of summer which one to buy. I have a bad feeling the bank account is going to have a heavy hit by end of summer.

I rented a 300 last weekend and it was an instantaneous "ok, if I stop eating and save every dollar for the next...(calculates) TWO MONTHS!!! I can buy one". I love that glass.
