They give you a coupon for 20 free prints at their lab when you buy the card. I now have three of those coupons. One from this purchase, one from a previous one, and one from the return/repurchase of the first card (it was giving me I/O errors).

Where can I find 60 4x6 to print? Hmmm...

crazy Costco "prints are ready" emails - 06-21-2005, 01:17 PM

Has anyone else noticed that the email that goes out from Costco telling you your prints are ready is a lie? First of all, the store does not open until 11 AM but a pick-up time of 10 AM the next day is usually offered. And then I'll get an email about 9 AM telling me the prints are ready. One time I showed up at 11 AM and they weren't done, so I went back the next day. I wish they would fix the system so the email went out at the right time. All that said, I love their photo service. I always use the upload, it works pretty fast and saves me a trip and the prints look great.

I don't use the upload as it doesn't offer the "right" sizes (8x12 or 10x15).

I believe the stores open about an hour earlier for business customers.

Jesus, does that mean that if I take a CD into the store and use the machine, then I can get an 8x12 or 10x15? I am so stupid, I bought some 9x12 frames today at Aaron Briothers and now I have no idea how to get a print made in that size, or close to that size. I don't know what I was thinking. They only had 8x12 in black and my daylily won't look good in that. If I could find a giant cutting board, I could get a size larger and then trim it.

And you're probably right about the business customers. The emails are still wrong, though!

I've never used the self-serve kiosk. What I mean is if you hand the CD to the "one-hour photo" lab at Costco, they offer the additional sizes and services (e.g., B&W).

they told me about that the first time I went there. I hardly ever get my prints the ame day so it was no big deal to me. It has something to do with the web server and not the local shops

Oh really... I always figured itf you tried to hand them a CD they would just point you toward the machine. I'll have to ask them about the special sizes. Thanks!

Well, now that I know about the problem it's not a big deal to me, either. I sent an email from their web site about it last week, and used all the words I could to make clear I was directing the feedback to someone who could control the system, and NOT to the people at the counter. Because I like those guys. I'm sure it won't go anywhere.
