I read that today shortly after receiving mine, ha. I haven't had any problems but I have had anything yet to test the servo performance...

I read that article earlier. I think I'm going to pass on this body unless they can fix this. The high ISO performance is undoubtedly better and would be great for what I do, but what does that matter if most of your action shots are OOF?

I have had mine since 5/25/07 and I haven't experienced any of the things reported in Rob's report or other internet chatter. I know of many other users that haven't either.

It looks like the problems are also varied from reports I have read. Different problems with different people. It sounds like some of them could have gotten bad or corrupted firmware that may be causing the problems.

I based this on the different kinds of problems reported versus no problems. If it was hardware it would seem that the problems would be consistently the same. This coupled with Canon still working on the firmware when Rob's preproduction report came out and the fact the camera was shipped with firmware 1.08 indicating 8 updates before it shipped.

At least Rob's report may get Canon to remedy the problems some are having faster. I can't imagine Canon not trying to fix this problem if many pro sports photogs are having difficulties. It could certainly have an impact on their sales with droves of people and Pros cancelling their orders for one.

I'm going to go shoot a baseball game to test mine out tomorrow night, I'll report back after I've had time to take it out on a couple assignments.

I'll be watching for updates on this. I'm not on a waiting list but I'm quietly sitting back and observing. Decision time is in the near future.

It's baseball season right now. I've notice over at SportsShooter many of the people that are saying that their Mark III autofocus is not giving them problems are shooting baseball. The way I shoot baseball is more of a reaction to a play and getting a shot off with the initial focus lock, not tracking a play. RG's report states that the Mark III excels at this, but not tracking. RG's evaluation was at a track meet where focus tracking was intensive. It will be interesting to see if the people without problems now start seeing them when football and basketball season starts and focus tracking is used more.

I know some wedding photogs that were complaining about AF issues with their Mark III bodies before the RG article, so *something* is up.

It seems that a lot of people with AF problems are trying to setup the camera like a 1D IIn clone. Canon has stated that this is a new AF system and I'm sure there is going to be a learning curve with this camera. It also seems like there isn't going to be one group of settings for the AF system that will work for all situations, which is what a lot of the 1D IIn shooters are looking for. I'm sure that Canon will release a firmware update that will tweak the focus system, they did for the previous cameras.

I haven't had any problems with the AF system, but I used a 20D before this camera. I've taken pictures of my wife running and I haven't noticed any problems with AI servo tracking. I also haven't noticed any temperature problems either and it is plenty hot and humid right now in North Texas.

[edit] Here is another review with no AF problems: http://www.prophotohome.com/forum/pr...w.html?garpg=8
