Going to B&H will give you the full-tilt New York experience. I grew up on the East coast and worked for a while in New York and it is quite a different place than Texas. You just have to give as good as you get when they are being abrupt or rude with you, it's kind of expected and can be amusing if you take it the way it is meant - without malice.

For the most part B&H's schedule isn't a problem. The fact that they're closed on Saturday doesn't matter for online or mail-order because it's not like UPS ships on Saturday anyway. Who cares if you have to wait till saturday night or sunday to place an order that isn't going to ship till monday either way.

For the occasional closures other days of the week it can sometimes be a little annoying, but I'm rarely in a situation where I absolutely have to have something right way (if I did, I'd probably just buy locally). Also, B&H is pretty good about posting notice well in advance of the holiday closures; so if you browse their site as often as I do the closures won't catch you by surprise.

The reason I prefer to do my business with B&H is because not only do they have excellent selection and competive pricing, they also provide one of the most consistent and reliable online shopping experiences you can get. And on the few times I've had to deal with customer service for things like RMA's, they've been very cooperative (if a bit terse).

I quit using B&H because of rude comments made by one of their service agents.

I now use Hunt's. They have a good inventory and Gary Faber will bend over backwards to assist you and give you the best price he can. They are open Monday thru Friday.

I had a similar experience with Adorama, only it wasn't a pleasant one. I had gone directly to an item that I wanted within their website (I had bookmarked it previously), so I didn't go past their front page (where they had an announcement of being closed for 2 weeks). I ordered the item, needed it quickly so I paid big time extra for 2nd day air... it wasn't until after the purchase was completed that the message popped up that they were out for the next week and a half still. When I complained to them (which, of course, also wasn't answered until after they got back), they essentially told me "tough" and that they had shipped it 2nd Day Air as soon as they returned, so I got what I paid for. (Of course, we won't even go into how the order was also wrong when it arrived and when I called to complain, they told me I didn't know what I was talking about and hung up on me.)

Bah.

B&H, no problems.. they have that lovely little popup no matter what page you enter their site on.

I fail to understand why this is ever a problem.

The clearly have a link to their hours of operation and holidays on the website's main page

Even more important for customer service, they have Henry.

I often wondered if people that are "not religious/Atheist/etc" decline their "Christmas Bonuses" or paid holidays? Funny how when it comes to money and/or getting what one wants outweighs ones beliefs... At least in a lot of cases that I have personally witnessed.

Sad if you ask me...Of course, no one did... So.. just my personal "belief" I suppose. LOL

Same here. If I need something ASAP when they're closed, Arlington Camera is right down the road. Besides, I've been purchasing more from AC lately anyway. There are advantages to buying locally.

Ditto. Arlington Camera and Fort Worth Camera get my biz when I need it now.

Picked up a new Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 from AC a couple of days ago. Both AC and HCE had the best prices on the net and AC happend to be down the street.

And when you log on, there is always a pop-up window alerting you that they are closed or will be closed, and exactly why.

Sadly, in the spririt of political correctness, most companies that offer these bonuses now call them "Year End bonuses"

My company doesn't even use the word "Easter" - they call the paid day we get off on the monday after Easter our "Spring Holiday" instead of calling it Easter Monday.

Our rules located HERE

1. Religious/Political discussions are NOT allowed

A simple "They are closed for Jewish Holidays" answer would have sufficed... The continued discussion of personal beliefs in regards to religion and business is not needed nor is it welcomed here on the forum. We have our rules in place for a reason and over the past 2+ years it has been decided that it is best to leave these types of discussions to other avenues...
