The last web site I saw posting them got shut down pretty quickly. Apparently B&H is really trying hard to keep them private these days.

Who are they originally provided to? I have seen some codes in the past, but never knew where they originated from?

I received a B&H catalog Feb 07 when I attended Photoshop for photographers seminar in San Antonio that had their then current codes.

There was a B&H rep present to discuss free shipping for NAPP members and how to go about getting the free shipping.

Also offered a healthy discount on NAPP membership.

B&H attends, and often sponsors, various trade shows, seminars and conventions world-wide. Whenever we attend these events we offer promotional "Show Specials" catalogs which include special promotional pricing on a variety of popular products. These specials are designed to be exclusively for show attendees, who often incur considerable expense (travel, lodging, entry fees) to participate. For the convenience of show attendees we have included special product SKUs so they can avail themselves of these specials.

In the past, the links to show specials were inadvertently widely open to non-attendees. New website updates have made it possible to handle these specials as they were always intended to be handled -- available to show attendees for their use. If someone attended an event we sponsor or in which we participate, printed catalogues were distributed or handed out at our show booth. If an attendee wants to order online, he or she can simply refer to the catalog, find the items he or she wishes to purchase, and type the special product code into the search box on the B&H website. The site will return the product's detail page with the "Show Specials" price. If someone attended a show and did not receive a "Show Specials" catalog, he or she can call, stating which specific show, date, and city location attended, and what products are sought and we will assist the customer.

These show specials were never intended for universal broadcast. I trust this explanation is satisfactory.

Henry...

I have asked you privately several times in the past to conduct yourself as a photographer and NOT as a representative of B&H because we only reserve that right to TPF forum sponsors. It is obvious from reading your recent posts that you simply can not follow my instructions in regards to this matter so you have left me no other choice than to take appropriate actions.

Your account here on TPF is now Permanently Banned.

You have been given multiple warnings and this recent post activity constantly touting B&H and their products/services is crossing the line.

one might think though that sharing BH codes isn't that big of a deal. Since most the people that will use them are repeat customers, which prob have given them quite a bit of $.

I <3 HCE! Mike is a great guy and great business owner, he has made me a customer for life! SPIFFY!

I agree, every dollar I spend on new camera equipment goes to BH..... some of us that do photograpy as a second or third hobby may not neccesary have time to attend these trade shows.

Too bad B&H didn't sponsor the forum. I usually found Henry to be helpful myself.

Well, Henry did have a point about not sharing the codes that were supposed to be for show visitors only.... but I'm sure he could have found better ways to say it, including finding a way to sponsor the forum and offer us a discount code with Abel's blessing.

I'll miss him, but Abel's right.. we can't just let any sponsor come in here and advertise for free.. we'd all end up run off by the Spam at that point.

My read of Henry's post was more that he was explaining why the codes are not readily available anymore, not that he was promoting the B&H business in any way. To me it would have been much different if he had posted codes with the invitation to use them. Oh well, I doubt the "ban" will adversly affect B&H's business one way or the other.
