who has had issues with their AS?
I think mine is going out
As it is hit and miss with focused shots and I am sorry but I don't shake that bad
I never get more than one bar on the as indicator. No matter how high the ss is.
Anyone know if the flat rate applies to that for repair?

My understanding is that out of warranty there is a $280 charge. Precision goes through the whole camera, and doesn't just address the original complaint.

If you have not looked at the Dyxxum forums that is a good place to look for people who are all about Minolta or the new Sony replacements. I did not have AS problems but my focus was getting worse as the camera would look for high contrast areas and that was not always what I wanted in focus. The main reason I bought the new A700 was to address this focus lock issue I was having. I thought it was the AS mechanism at first but after talking to people I found it might be something different. My 7D will be heading to Precision for repair in the next week or two.

Good Luck.

Thanks Alan and Chris.
Alan I emailed you, probably went to your spam again.

Chris I will be heading to Best Buy today as I have a shoot tomorrow. Plan to try out the 700 and then if I am not completely satisfied I will be returning it.
I will be calling Precision.
Thanks again guys.

Also when I am in Manual mode sometimes when I try to change the ss and A obviously and the numbers won't move, the dial turns but the #s seem to be stuck. So I guess I should tell them that there are several things wrong?
Thanks again

Be aware that the Adobe converters for the Sony files are showing some oddities at times with the A700. If that occurs use the Sony converter to open the image and then export it to Photshop. I got my A700 on the assumption that if I didn't like it I would get rid of it but after giving it a chance for a couple of weeks it is here to stay. If you have any problems let me know and I will help you out if I can.

Tell Precision all of the issues you are having as it does not cost more for them to test each issue. It will cost you more if you ahve to send it back to them because you forgot something.

My 7D did something similar, and they wound up replacing the complete top end of the body. Be sure to mention any and all isues, whether recurring or sporadic.

Thanks guys.
I have it all typed up.
Mentioned the flash sync port, the SS and A dials. and the focus/as issue. I hope that is all. I did ask that they check the entire camera before sending it back for any unnoticeable issues.
Oh and I asked if they have a spare LCD screen cover as mine disappeared while ziplinning in alaska lol.
I think that is all I have complained about. I hope that covers it all
Thanks again
Alan i resent the email
Chris I will keep you in mind. We just really don't have the money for a new camera not even the 100 at $700 :(
Dh and I were joking last night he was looking at Choppers and I said so what I can start looking at camera equipment lol. But then I opened the images and realized that unfortunately I have to.
Many life gives you more than you think you can handle some times :D

OH yeah they emailed me a form, so if I have this form I don't need to fill the online thing out right?
I was doing both but they look very much alike.
Planning to get it out today. IS the PO open?

Thanks Alan
Not sure what the deal is with the email
Dh is mailing the camera out today. Since PO was closed yesterday.
I got the 700 Gosh that is a crap load of money when you weren't planning on it.
So far I think I like it.
I just did a shoot a few minutes ago and it seems to be good.

Chris I need your help with Raw :D
