This sucks - Broken AF-M switch on 35L - 10-27-2007, 10:50 AM

I'm getting ready to go shoot a historical marker dedication and was checking the kit and discovered the switch on my favorite lens the 35L was not just loose but would pop off.

Well off it goes to Irvine for repair. Oh, 3 months out of warranty.

Anyone else had problems with this switch getting loose?

Not me, but then again...I rarely use it on any lenses other than my former macro.

What's strange I can't ever think when I last used it in manual. The last time had to have been last March.

I wouldn't have noted it but when I was mounting the lens, I felt something move where there nothing should have moved. The switch cover was over about 1/4 inch from where it should be. I pushed it back and noted it would just move and not lock. Then when I held it in portrait mode, it would fall out.

No, ding marks or anything indicating it got hit.

Dang, you're tough on equipment!
This is the first time I have heard of problems with that switch!

I don't want to start an epidemic, but that happened to me with an older Canon lens. I don't know how it happened to me either.
