After trying a Lacie 160GB with a FW 800 interface, I'm not ever using USB 2.0 drives

I think these are two different animals -- The wolverine is for carrying in your camera bag, car, etc... and being able to take a card and insert it, and it can copy the contents, thus freeing up your cards for more shooting. Perfect for a roadtrip or camping trip that you don't want to pull out the laptop.

The lacie is an external hard drive, and I agree with you that the FW interface makes them very fast!

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

Note on the Wolverine you can transfer UP to 12GB on a single charge. The batteries are INTERNAL, so you must be near a power source to charge the unit.

This may meet the needs for some people, but if you want portable backup for an extended trip away from power, this unit will not satisfy your needs.

At least now they provide some transfer capacity estimates. 4 years ago nobody could answer that question when I bought one at Frys. Needless to say it was returned as soon as I got back from my trip.
