Just got mine back last week. They sent a replacement one in less then ten days. Works fine. I haven't seen the low battery, and fits a bit tighter too. Mine did fall in the old serial range. New one is 1xxxxx.

Interesting...I haven't had any problems with mine, but my serial number does fall into the range. I'll get it replaced anyway so I don't run into problems in the future.

Hmmm... I need to check mine when I get home tonight. I got the message "error 99" twice on mine this weekend. Accoding to their website thats a battery error. Hope thats the problem, otherwise I will be a very unhappy camper...

i have #005649.

ive had problems where if i insert 2 batteries, the battery meter will read at one bar, however if i take one out and swap them it reads full.

btw, where did you get this from since i would figure someone from canon would know the rebel xt dosent use the same grip as the 20d.

Stupid question -- where is the serial number on this thing? Is it the 6-digit number on the bottom plate where the screw is? I'm assuming so, in which case I'm ok. Mine begins with a 1.

I had to shut off my camera, take out the batteries, wait 5 minutes, re-insert the batteries, and the camera was fine.

I looked at the botom of the batery grip and the serial number starts with 1xxxxxxxx.
