I seem to be having problems with auto focus on very dark subjects(solid black german shepard) , in moderate to low light, after the "fix" anybody else?

I have seen that on a non-fixed MK III. Seems semi-normal to me... However, my 5D seems to lock just as fast or faster when using center AF point. I understand that the point is larger which helps with contrast detection. Have you tried using the surrounding point expansion? Curious if they may have reset something if it's performing differently.

Canon STILL HASN'T contacted me about scheduling the fix.. driving me nuts.

I have to agree...the vast majority of AF systems work better with some contrast...all black or all white subjects are hard for any AF...I haven't tested my fixed Mark III in those conditions, yet...when I do, I will report...

Right.. But I meant that low contrast in low light and small AF points = slow focus (fixed or not).
