QUESTION: Nikon 300 f/2.8 AF-I - 01-06-2008, 07:16 PM

I am looking at buying a slightly used version of this lens. It appears in almost new condition and the price will be < $2000. What I've read is that is focuses faster than the current version but the motor is noisier and it doesn't have VR.

Does anyone have any experience with this lens and if so, what do you think of the lens and it's performance for football, etc.?

Thanks!

I have an older version (NIKKOR AF f300 f2.8 ED) and it is great at football games. It is a little noisy by the IQ is great. I hang on to it because I cant afford 4.2K to upgrade to the VR. I shoot 5-7 FPS and VR doesn't keep up anyway. I don't think you will be disappointed.

It won't accept the current AF TC's. Otherwise, it's a great lens.
