Seems to me that you would need a lot of these to work on various lenses. Search this Forum. Somebody mentioned using a white coffee filter (like the kind tor Mr. Coffee makers) and a rubber band. They come in various sizes. The smaller ones might be better for lenses. The Melita brand filters fold flat and would tuck away in your bag nicely.

Not necessarily. Just gone one that's for the largest lens you own and you can use it for the smaller diameter lenses.
I think this works pretty much like the Expo disc, for a lower price:

How hard is it to juggle the filter, hold the camera and set the white balance?

You just have to put the cap on the lens, take a sample from the light reading, take it off and use the sample as your white balance. The next photos taken in the same light will have proper white balance.

can't you do the same with a coffee filter if you are wanting an auto/custom white balance.? I personally haven't used any of these methods to select a white balance. I will either use a target for custom, or will just set at 5200 or set on tungsten depending on what I think the light is. Most of the places that I have shot, I am either controlling the light, or it is shifting on me throughout the shoot, so it is usually easier just to set it close and forget it.

Why buy the biggest? Pop on a wide lens with a small filter diameter (the 50/1.8 comes to mind), white balance, switch to whatever lens you want.

WB on the camera stays the same.

Here's a thought: Buy an 18% grey/white card. Grey one side. White on the other. Point your camera at it. Set white balance. Take a photo of it. Use it when you post-process. Back before we got electricity, I shot an 18% grey card with the first frame of film I used for a given assignment. The folks in Dallas doing my processing read that grey card and PRESTO! everything on multiple rolls looked the same.

I love my expodisk!! TOOO EASY..... I got the 77mm and use it on all of my lens. I just hold it on with the smaller lens..

I also have a grey target works just as easy...Just like venchka said..

looks like a knock off expo disk which work amazing, does this have the angle cut glass on the front to pull in light from all sources?

and best thing to do with this or expo disk is buy 77mm that way it works with all lenses

Yes I agree because I now have the 16-35mm f2.8L II and the 77mm is too LITTLE.
