What external HD would you recommend for backing up a MB Pro? LaCie seems to be popular with the Mac.

* Most important, IMO is the manufacturer of the drive itself, not the case... some are Seagate, WD, Hitachi, and Samsung. Maxtor is now Seagate's low end brand.
* The case just determines aesthetics and connectivity
* You can also check out Other World Computing for a pretty reputable on-line drive vendor (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/)
* You can also see what's on sale at Fry's
* I would get one with a triple or quad interface (USB/FW400/eSATA/FW800), but then again, I have multiple computers, you may not care. Generally, USB is the slowest, ESATA the fastest, with FW400 and FW800 in between; MB pros have USB/FW400/FW800 ports
* Or get the new Apple Time Capsule, 802.11n router with 1TB of disk for $500 that works with TimeMachine for painless backups, I'm keeping my eye out for that one

Thanks, Mike. I think I'll hold off to see what I can get the 500GB TC for. That would be a really good way to go.
